The Invisible Team

We collaborate with a variety of creative people and companies to help create and deliver impeccable websites, including freelance programmers and designers, software solutions like Wordpress, and our sister company Acorn Host for web hosting.

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

Our style is rooted in the needs of real businesses, rather than design school philosophy. We are practical in approach, preferring what Lao Tsu Quote is dependable and well-implemented to what is flashy and cool. We are guided by the principles of usability and accessibility: websites should serve a function as well as look good. We advocate utility and simplicity, however, we believe that every useful thing can also be beautiful.

BUSINESS PHILOSOPHY

We believe it is our responsibility to help clients understand their options and get the best solution for their needs—even if that sometimes means referring them to a company more suited to their project or recommending a less expensive solution than they had originally planned for.

We believe there is a spiritual ecology to business: if you are doing good work that engages you and that is needed in the world, your ideal customers will naturally be attracted to you and your business will prosper. Operating from that faith gives us the freedom to truly serve our customers.

About the name

People occasionally ask where the name "Red Acorn" comes from. The acorn symbolizes our niche, small companies that are often just starting out. We enjoy supporting new businesses and providing the tools they need to grow, and we have a special place in our heart for microbusinesses. Red symbolizes many things, from passion to social justice. Our founder was named after Emma Goldman, whose nickname was "Red Emma", so it seemed like a good fit.
